Anthropic CPO Krieger Exits Figma Board Over Rival

Mike Krieger, Anthropic's CPO and Instagram cofounder, resigned from Figma's board just days before Anthropic launched Claude Design - a tool that generates interactive prototypes, websites, and slide decks from natural language prompts. He had joined Figma's board less than a year ago, and Figma had been integrating Claude as an AI assistant for designers. The timing makes the conflict of interest obvious, but the larger signal is harder for SaaS companies to ignore. Claude Design targets founders and product managers who never open Figma at all, which is a different threat than an AI copilot inside an existing tool. Figma shares dropped 7% on the news, adding weight to the "SaaSpocalypse" thesis that AI labs are coming for vertical software markets directly.
